I see that today, May 10, is Clean Up Your Room day. Well, it's not as if the thought had never crossed my mind....If only I had the time and energy. I like the times when you have all day and nothing planned. Right now I barely had the energy to read that it is Clean Up Your Room Day!

Well, I just got the call from Mom. It's always good to hear from Mom, but this time she asked right away if we'd done my Don Pablo's thing, and if I got any free gifts. My Mom is so great, she is a very happy person who is always in a good mood and seems to talk with a smile on her face. I'm amazed that she's like that, especially working with hospice patients sometimes. Anyhow, she makes the rounds, calling family members; her sisters, cousins, and nieces, and her own kids. Talking to someone is more entertaining to her than watching television. She is a REAL people person!
As far as today, I'm a lot more mellow than I was yesterday. I guess because I'm so tired, I'm always tired anymore, these days. I picked up some Gummi vitamins for adults, hoping that will give me more pep!

Most of today was spent alone. I went to the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival and didn't even bother to ask my sister to come with me since admission was free. My sister never goes anywhere; even if she makes the plans and asks you to come! She always backs out at the last minute or if she can't think of a reason to not go she pretends none of it ever happened. I usually feel sympathetic and don't force the issue to make her tell more lies...Yeah, I know, but what family is not dysfunctional?  So anyhow, the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival was kind of a bust for me. It truly catered to knitters! I don't think I saw one single aspect that even alluded to crochet! It's a shame, because I've been so into crochet again lately. In fact, I'm thinking about creating a separate blog to focus on my crocheting efforts. Tomorrow might be a good day to start that.

It's Cinco De Mayo! - Happy Birthday To Me!

It's May 5th! It's Cinco De Mayo! It's also my birthday, Kentucky Derby Day, National Hoagie Day, National Homebrew Day, and probably of bunch of other days I don't know about yet!

I think I have the coolest birth day ever! The weeks leading up to it, as the day got closer, I found myself smiling more and getting a little excited. I/we don't celebrate birthdays the way most people do. It's a little quieter, maybe a phone call from a family member just to acknowledge the day and congratulate for making it through another year. This is just fine with me, even if sometimes it does go unnoticed until a week or so later. But the older I get, I find that my own personal annivesary, as a friend of mine calls birthdays, is a very personal event. A favorite aunt of mine really made this hit home with me when she spoke about 'celebrating' your birthday with just a slice or individual-sized cake for just yourself and a prayer to thank God for giving you another year on earth. Both my aunt and my friend considered it a time for reflecting on your life and doing some self-examination. I tend to do this on a regular basis anyhow, but I today; on my own personal anniversary, for once, I'm 'chill-axing' and not analyzing.  Happy Birthday to Me!

Update on the Cat Colony

Well, on a good note, we've gotten 4 more cats neutered over the past couple of months. On the downside, 4 females have turned up pregnant. Onr delivered 5 about 4 weeks ago. 2 others each delivered 3 a few days apart this week. I didn't let this get to me as I had my own medical issues I was worrying about. Fortunately, my daughter thinks shes found homes for all of the new kittens!
